About

A solutions architecture practice.

Global SoLARK Limited advises on and builds the systems organisations depend on. Consultancy and delivery sit in the same team, so the architecture we recommend is one we are prepared to build ourselves.

What a solutions architect actually does

Most failed technology projects are not failures of coding. They are failures of framing: the wrong problem solved well, or the right problem solved on a foundation that cannot carry it.

Our job is the layer in between: translating a business objective into a system design, naming the trade-offs in plain terms, and making sure the thing that gets built can be run, changed and afforded by the people who inherit it.

How we are set up

We are deliberately small. Engagements are staffed by the people who scoped them, which keeps the context in the room and the handover overhead near zero.

We work with organisations that have a real operational problem and want a system that fits it, not a platform migration in search of a justification.

Our practices

Five areas, one architecture-led approach across all of them.

Business Consultancy

Current-state process mapping, bottleneck analysis, target operating model and a prioritised roadmap with costs attached. Delivered as a document your board can act on.

AI Consultancy

AI readiness review, use-case shortlisting scored on value against effort, data-quality assessment, and governance covering privacy, accuracy and human oversight. Includes the cases we recommend against.

IT Consultancy

Architecture and integration review, cloud strategy, security posture, resilience and cost optimisation across the estate you already operate.

Software Solutions

Custom web applications, data platforms, reporting and internal tooling, built on mainstream stacks, tested, documented and handed over in full.

AI Software & Automation

Retrieval assistants over your own documents, extraction and classification pipelines, matching and recommendation engines, and end-to-end workflow automation.

Support & Enablement

Warranty periods, ongoing support, and workshops that leave your team able to extend the system without calling us first.

How we work

Four stages, each with an agreed output before the next one starts.

Understand

Interviews, process walkthroughs and a look at the real data. Output is a written problem statement and success criteria both sides sign off.

Architect

Two or three viable options with trade-offs, risks, dependencies and cost. Output is a target architecture and a delivery plan.

Build

Short iterations, each ending in a working demonstration. Tests, accessibility and documentation are inside the estimate.

Hand over

Deployment, runbooks, training and an agreed support window. Code and infrastructure stay in your accounts throughout.

What we hold to

These are the commitments we would want from a supplier, so they are the ones we make.

  • Say no when no is the answer. Including to work we could bill for.
  • Write decisions down. If a choice cannot survive being explained in plain English, it is the wrong choice.
  • Prefer the simpler system. Complexity is a cost the client pays every year.
  • Build accessible by default. WCAG 2.1 AA is a baseline, not an upgrade.
  • Leave nothing locked. Your repositories, your cloud accounts, your data, your documentation.
